I’ll be the first to admit that I used to be a very wasteful consumer. There were times when I would go out and buy things, and in less than a couple of days, I would be asking myself why I even thought it was a good idea to spend money on the thing that I had just purchased. For quite a long time, I convinced myself that buying lots of things would make me happy. However, because I started to run into money problems as a result of my excessive shopping, I eventually realized that all of my shopping was actually what was making me unhappy.
Once I came to this realization, I knew that I had to make a change in my life. Although it wasn’t easy, I went from being a frivolous consumer to a savvy shopper. Nowadays, when I make a purchase, I not only know that I am getting something I actually need, but I also know that I’m getting the best deal on it that’s available. For example, I’ve decided to get a car with better gas mileage, and instead of wasting money on a new car, I am going to buy a quality used rental car at a really great price!
