I am quite excited that the New Year has gotten started. The main reason that I am excited about this is because the New Year is the time when we all have the opportunity for a fresh start. Even if you don’t feel this way, that’s honestly the opportunity that you have in front of you.
Because 2008 was filled with so many economic problems for the global economy, it made me realize that I’m not immune from potentially running into financial problems myself. Since I have realized that my bank account and portfolio are not invincible, my main focus for 2009 is adjusting my lifestyle as much as possible to ensure that I am not squandering away the money that I work hard for on frivolous expenses.
Even though the year is just getting started, I have already made some changes. For example, instead of going out and paying for an overpriced cup of coffee every morning, I brew my own at home.
The first big task that I am planning to accomplish is selling my car and buying something more reasonable. I’ve looked at a variety of options, and I think I’m going to go the route of buying a used rental car once my car is sold.
