Has the Thought of Buying a Rental Car Crossed Your Mind?

If you have been thinking about the fact that your current vehicle is about to wear out but don’t want to spend a ton of money on a new vehicle, you are definitely not alone. In the past, spending more than was necessary on a car did not necessarily seem like a bad thing. However, now that just about all of us have been impacted by the recession over the past two years, we are starting to see that money can get really tight in a very short amount of time. Therefore, I think we would all agree that being careful with how we spend our money is a very good thing to do.

Fortunately, even if you do need a different vehicle but are trying to be as cost conscious as possible, there is a solution that meets both of your needs. The solution that I am talking about is buying a rental car. The reason that this is the perfect solution for you and anyone else in a similar situation is because it takes care of both sides of this issue for you. On one side, you are able to get a reliable vehicle that is well maintained and won’t present constant problems for you. On the other hand, you are able to get this vehicle without spending a ton of money, which means that you won’t have to be worried that buying this vehicle is going to put you in a bad financial situation.

Saving Money is So Important Right Now

Although we can’t predict the future, we can look at what has happened over the last two years. And, as anyone who has the facts laid out in front of them can see, the economy has really taken a beating over the last two years. While people can sit on television all day and predict when things are going to get better, the truth is that none of us can know with one hundred percent certainty. However, the one thing that we can do is to prepare ourselves for whatever lies ahead. Whether it turns out to be bad or good, my philosophy has always been to prepare for the worst.

Because of this, I have been really focused on saving money in the past couple of months. Fortunately, I have never been the type of person to live beyond my means, but I have really been clamping down on myself in recent months. For example, when I realized that I needed a new car (because I had been driving my old car until it was on the verge of completely dying), I made the decision to buy a rental car. I felt this was a financially sound decision, because I was able to get a reliable car at a very reasonable price.

My Son is Going to Be Eighteen

It’s strange to think that in less than two months, my son will be having his eighteenth birthday. While part of me is sad that my son is going to be an adult in this short amount of time, the other part of me is extremely proud of the man he has become. While there are a lot of boys this age who have no idea what they are going to do with their lives (and are doing nothing more than causing trouble), my son has already been accepted into a very good college as a result of his hard work in school.

Since he will be receiving his driver’s license on his birthday (I know the legal driving age in most states is sixteen, but ours was changed to eighteen several years ago), I have decided to reward his hard work with a car. Because it’s going to be his first car, I didn’t want to give him anything that was over the top. However, I wanted something nice and reliable, so I decided to buy a rental car for him. The car is in good shape and has low mileage, so I won’t have to worry about him driving (and he will enjoy driving it). He hasn’t seen the car that I bought for him yet, but I know that he’s going to be really excited about it.
